Hello and welcome to the home page of Taimyrin cattery in Finland!

How it all started?Since childhood I have always lived with cats and I hoped I would one day own a pure bred cat.

My studies took me to the city of Kajaani in the Northern Finland. There I happened to see in winter 2000 in a magazine a breed presentation of the Siberian Cat. The breed description was so appealing that after a while I found myself searching for more information about the breed in the internet.

I found some pictures of available kittens and Minnilän Idefix aka Aatu was the most beautiful of them. Soon Aatu was shipped to me by plane and I certainly never have to regret this step.

In summer 2001 I had the chance to become co-owner of a female Siberian together with Minnilän cattery. I seized the opportunity and Sibcat's Chocolatecandy aka Inka moved to me. Inka's first litter was born in 2002 under Minnilän cattery name. After this I was stimulated to apply for a cattery name of my own.

FIN*Taimyrin cattery name was admitted in fall 2002. The name refers to the Taimyr Peninsula, which is situated in Siberia. The first five kittens were born to the Taimyrin cattery on November 11, 2003. Taimyrin Athene aka Miisa stays in the cattery as future breeding queen.

Besides cats, son Eemil, who takes care, that the kittens get used to children, and husband Ari belong to my family. Our cattery is located in Vantaa, in the capital city area in South Finland. However, our cats are used to travel with the family to the beautiful lands of Kainuu in the Northern part of the country, where my childhood home is situated.
